Wood-inhabiting Ascomycetes

There are hundreds of wood-inhabiting Ascomycete species in Finland. Majority of them are poorly known and notable proportion of them is not scientifically described.  Our research group studies the ecology and conservation biology of these species. Here our purpose is to produce DNA barcodes for our study species. The primary aim is to produce barcodes for the properly known species to increase the number of proper Ascomycete reference samples in DNA libraries. A secondary aim is to produce barcodes for some species with debated taxonomic status. We estimate to produce barcodes for about one hundred species.
