Instructions for preparing samples for DNA barcoding

FinBOL coordinates the sending of samples
It is relatively easy to produce DNA barcodes in a molecular biological research laboratory. The production of a DNA barcode requires reading the DNA base order using a DNA sequencher. Within FinBOL, DNA barcodes of many groups can be produced at the Canadian Centre for DNA Barcoding (CCDB) with funding from iBOL. Sample preparation for sequencing follows the instructions of CCDB, which are available, along with the required forms, from here. FinBOL coordinates the sending of samples for sequencing in Canada and ensures the proper prioritization of sequencing work, e.g., to avoid too many samples of the same species being sequenced.
