Daddy longlegs (Tipuloidea)

Over 330 daddy longleg species are known in Finland, and over 15,000 worldwide. The project aims to produce DNA barcodes for all species occurring in Finland and nearby regions. DNA barcodes are important for species identification, since in many species females or non-adults cannot be identified reliably using traditional methods. At the moment, barcodes based on Finnish samples are available for over one hundred species.
